The night was awash with melodies. Fond and favorite tunes filled the air as the band lead sing-a longs to the grey haired masses overflowing the tiers of Red Rocks amphitheater. The Beach Boys Fiftieth Anniversary Concert celebrated an age long gone, to a aged crowd. Grey hair and grey beards, many bedecked in surfer wear over bodies worn and wrinkled. Song after song called memories of good times, summers of romance and love.
The oldies, people now 65+, stood in timeless trances, or mimed measured dances. In the crowd, close friends sharing knowing glances, remembering how it used to be. The mood, romance revisited, romantic overtones in 4 part harmony. 53 songs were played and sung. In the audience, the spark of romance rekindled. All around, old couples, holding hands, touching, swaying. You could hear it in their voices, feel it in the applause. Love was in the air and for those open to the sensations of romance, you could taste its sweetness.
That night seniors were gifted new memories, built on top the old. A fresh experience, a joyful celebration, to reminisce on and smile. Hand in hand as couples moved slowly to exit the concert, humming a tune, they leave no doubt that romance can be found even as years wear us down?
Re-romance ON !
